How to fix Windows 2000 Registry

Live Tech CareThe Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system, although stable and consistent for its time, is now unsupported by Microsoft, leaving computers that use it subject to malicious software crawling the Internet for quarry. Download the Windows XP Professional Utility

The startup disks will install the required CD-ROM drivers that allow to use the Windows installation CD to install or repair a Windows operating system.

Click the “Download” button to start downloading the boot disk utility. If it does not begin itself within 30 seconds, select the “Start Download” link to strength the download. Downloading this file might take several minutes depending upon Internet connection speed.

Double-click the downloaded file to start installation. After accepting with the terms and conditions, a menu will instruct to type the letter of the floppy drive. To determine what floppy disk drive letter is, go to “My Computer” and it must be displayed in there. This installation will ask for six formatted 1.44 MB disks serially where the installation files will be stored.

Label each disk as it is formed. This is important for later on.

Download the Windows 2000 Registry Repair Utility

Click the “Download” button to start downloading the utility. If it does not start automatically within 30 seconds, select the “Start Download” link to strength the download to begin.

Double-click the file to start the installation. A pop-up window will prompt to insert setup boot disk number 6 created above. The registry repair utility will be saved to this disk for the afterward use.

Start Repairing of Windows 2000 Registry

Put in setup boot disk number 1 in the computer with the faulty registry and boot up the machine.

The system will start installing the required files to repair the system. Each setup boot disk will be required to finish installation.

Choose the “Repair” option when prompted to either install Windows XP or repair the existing installation. The Windows 2000 Repair Utility will now try to repair the registry.
