How to fix Blue screen error in Windows

Live Tech CareWhen you start Windows, your computer may briefly display the blue startup screen and then continuously restart.

This behavior can occur if the following conditions exist:

  • A fatal system error (STOP error) causes the computer to stop.
  • The automatically Reboot option is enabled under Recovery on the Startup/Shutdown tab in the System properties.
Note: In Windows Server 2000, the Automatically Reboot option is enabled in the Startup and Recovery dialog box. This dialog box appears after you click the Startup and Recovery button on the advanced tab in the System properties.
  • The Windows paging file is smaller than the amount of physical memory installed in the computer or there is insufficient free space on the system hard disk to write the error dump file (Memory.dmp).

This section, technique, or task contains steps that tell you how to amend the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry imperfectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For extra protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can repair the registry if a problem occurs.
NOTE: To work around this issue, you require a parallel installation of Windows.

To make the necessary changes, follow these steps:

  1. Install Windows to a similar folder.
  2. Run Regedt32.exe from the new installation of Windows, and then go to theHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key.
  3. On the Registry menu, click Load Hive, and then open the System file in the original Windows installation place. By default, this installation is located at %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\System.
  4. Enter an arbitrary name when you get a prompt for a key name in the Load Hive window. This loads the original HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive as a sub key of the current key.
  5. Change the value data in the Auto-Reboot value to 0 (zero), instead of 1, in the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Crash Control
  6. Collapse the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE sub-key and unload the hive.

This disables the automatic Reboot option in the unique Windows installation. After you follow these steps, you may be able to gather information from the STOP error message and resolve the problem that prevents the PC from starting.  Another work around may be necessary if the minimum size of the paging file is set to a value less than the sum of physical memory. Windows requires a paging file on the system drive large enough to hold all of physical memory, plus 1 megabyte (MB), to write debugging information. You can modify the Paging Files value of the original installation so that the dump file can be created by the STOP error message. Sufficient free disk space must be available on the system drive for the paging file.
Follow these steps to change the paging files value in the System file in the original Windows installation location:

  1. Follow steps 1-4 from the earlier workaround.
  2. Change the data value of the Paging Files value to allow a minimum value of the amount of physical memory plus 1 MB, but not greater than the amount of free space on the hard disk. The key name is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

For example :- “drive:\pagefile.sys nnnnnn” where drive is the letter of the system hard disk and nnn is a number for the minimum and maximum size of the paging file.

  1. Check the following key to verify that the Crash Dump Enabled value is set to a data value of 1:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Crash Control

  1. Subside the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE sub key and unload the hive.
  2. Attempt to start the original installation of Windows and the STOP error message should appear. The unload information is stored in the paging file.
  3. Restart the computer and select the equivalent installation of Windows. This allows the dump file to be turned and you may be able to use the information to resolve the problem that causes the STOP error message in the original installation.

Windows may come across a problem during startup that results in a STOP error message. Depending on the pc configuration, the blue screen may not be displayed long enough to record the error information. Using the work around listed above, you can change the startup procedure so that important information about the STOP error message can be collected.

How to fix Blue Screen Error

Live Tech CareAfter completing an upgrade installation of Leopard and restarting the computer, a “blue screen” may appear for an extended period of time. You may have third-party “enhancement” software installed that does not work with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Option A : Use another Mac to remove application enhancement software

If you have a second Mac that has a FireWire port (even if it’s not running Leopard), and a FireWire cable that you can connect to both computers, use this solution:

  1. Start your original, affected computer in Target Disk Mode by holding the T key, and connect it to your second computer. Your exaggerated computer’s hard disk volume(s) should appear on the desktop of the second computer.
  2. Open the second computer’s mounted disk volume (where Leopard is installed), then open the System folder, then the Library folder, and finally the System Configuration folder.
  3. Locate “Application Enhancer bundle” and move it to the Trash. Important: Do not delete any other files from your Leopard disk.
  4. Enter an admin account name and password if provoked.
  5. Drive out the mounted volume(s). (Disconnect the FireWire cable if you want).
  6. Turn off the original computer and start it up again (holding no keys).

If the issue persists, or if the “Application Enhancer bundle” file was not on your Leopard volume, use Option B.

Option B: Reinstall Leopard

If you can’t use option A, it may be necessary to perform an Archive and Install installation of Leopard. Archive and Install moves Mac OS X system files to a folder named Previous System, and then installs a new copy of Mac OS X on the chosen volume. Mac OS X–installed applications, such as Address Book and Safari, are archived, and new versions are installed in the Applications folder. Applications, plug-ins, and other software may have to be reinstalled after an “Archive and Install.” You will probably want to check “Preserve user and network settings” when starting the installation.

Note: After installation, confirm each third-party software product is compatible with Leopard before reinstalling it, particularly any application “enhancement” software.

Option C: Use the command line (advanced) to remove application enhancement software

Try this answer if you are comfortable using Terminal and have certain application expansion installed. The software may be removed following the below steps:

  1. Start up in single-user mode by holding Command-S after restarting the computer. Note that single-user mode always uses the US English keyboard layout.
  2. Type these commands, each on a single line followed by Return:

/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
rm -rf /System/Library/System Configuration/Application Enhancer. bundle
reboot

Blue screen crash will show all of your pending and an error screen that suddenly come to light that informs you that your screen is freezing. In calculation, some errors DLL will also appear and ask if you recently added any new hardware or programs on your computer. When this incident occurs, they have vanished mad, especially if you have not saved or finish something you’re working. Of course, you have to do your job again from the commencement. The easiest and best way to solve this problem is to run registry cleaner software. And if you’ve decided to let a technician fix your computer for you, stop there, you do not want to pay for something you can fix yourself, right ? Also, if you want to ask about any  technician may be able to resolve the accident, which will undoubtedly tell you that it is a very complex matter and therefore should be treated by a specialized like him. If the technician is not to say there will be no business left for him. But in reality, what is going to do is just run a registry cleaner in the drive and then asks for the payment of reparations and the software used. Furthermore, unloading, setting up and repair of the blue screen error using a software is not very difficult to do and that saves time and, well, why would you pay someone else just to make something simple for you ? Here are some things you can do to fix and solve your blue screen crash. This is especially useful if you’re not familiar with the technical team and just want quick and easy solutions.
1. Restart your computer

Sometimes the blue screen comes out only once and then not again for a second time. In this case, a simple restart is just what you need to resolve the blue screen crash.
On the other hand, if the problem is more regular, you may have to deal with other things.

2. Replace your Random Access Memory (RAM)

RAM is a hardware that is eternally installed inside the computer’s motherboard. It is a rectangular piece that keeps the information. This is where the CPU gets the commands. And once this equipment is not functioning normal, without doubt, the computer may crash in the blue screen. And so, the replacement of the RAM can be a solution.

3. Run a registry cleaner

A registry cleaner can remove errors in your record. This record stores all information regarding the software, drivers, applications and games that are installed on your computer. And in time, it can get bad, because some outdated entries are not deleted and can lead to what they identify the “blue screen of death.”
